Old Coombe Cottages Dorset

1 & 2 Old Coombe Cottages
Lower Brimley Coombe Farm

You begin to feel the peace of the countryside surroundings as you drive down the private farm track to the cottages. The carefully restored old stone cow barns are the perfect hideaway in all seasons. In the Spring you will likely see lambs playing in adjacent fields. The wood stove makes for cosy evenings in winter months. The farm track is a footpath/bridleway that can take you on a short walk with the dog or a long day’s meandering through beautiful West Dorset farmland. A hike up Lewesdon Hill is well worth the effort with winding trails through the old beech trees and carpets of bluebells in the Spring. If you simply desire a quiet day, the short brick path by the cottages takes you to a large deck where you can relax and do some birdwatching or lamb watching!

However you choose to spend your days – be it walking, at the beach, or sampling delicious local fare, you arrive back to your home-away-from-home. The interiors of the cottages are furnished with care and a love of antiques and you can relax in welcoming rooms once you return from your days exploring the area.

Well Cottage and Woad Cottage
Stoke Knapp Farm

Ready in May 2024…Restoring and finishing to the highest standards, the cottages are a few steps from the Wessex Ridgeway and a 20 minute walk down to the pub in Stoke Abbott.

These cottages form part of an historical Listed farmhouse and farmyard dating from the late 17 th century. Originally used as dairy barns, these character buildings have been brought back to life with the utmost care and attention to detail. Well Cottage is named after the old well discovered near the building, Woad Cottage from the plants prized in ancient time for a colourful dye. They flourished on nearby Waddon Hill when Romans conquered this area. Beams, stone walls and oak flooring feature throughout the cottages with a thoughtful collection of antiques, sumptuous soft furnishings and traditional Cornishware in the kitchen.
